ENTRY: Enter at www.lhj.com/hairspraycontest or www.hairspraythemusical.com/dance by registering. Following registration, you will be asked to submit a video of yourself dancing to the tune of your choice from the Broadway production of Hairspray. To submit your complete video segment, your video must be no longer than thirty (30) seconds.  The actual video entry for the contest can be no longer than thirty (30) seconds. To enter, please provide ONLY the url link to your video.  To obtain this url, please visit any video hosting site such as www.YouTube.com, upload your video, and capture the corresponding url link.  Entrants must perform a song from the Broadway production of Hairspray in connection with their submission.  Use of any other song, including but not limited to, songs from the motion picture “Hairspray,” shall result in disqualification of the entrant.  Any and all material submitted shall become and shall remain the property of the producer of the musical (the “Producer”).  No submissions shall be returned. Submissions shall not be subject to any obligation of confidentiality on the part of Producer or Sponsors and Producer and Sponsors shall not be liable for any use or disclosure of any submission. Without limitation of the foregoing, Producer shall exclusively own all now-known or hereafter existing rights to the submissions of every kind and nature throughout the universe and shall be entitled to unrestricted use of the submission for any purpose whatsoever, commercial or otherwise, without compensation to the entrant of the submission or any other person or entity. Entrants acknowledge that there shall be no expectation of privacy with regard to any submission. Producer and Sponsors reserve the right to edit or change any submission in any manner whatsoever.

LIMIT: One entry per household. No group entries.

ELIGIBILITY:  Legal residents of the 48 United States, and the District of Columbia, 18 years of age or older are eligible to enter, except employees of Sponsors, professional dancers, cast members of “Hairspray”, and any other organizations affiliated with the sponsorship, fulfillment, administration, prize support, advertisement or promotion and/or their respective agents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and members of their immediate families or persons residing at the same address.

WINNER SELECTION:  Judging:  (A) Semi-Final Round:  on or about October 15, 2006,  a qualified panel of judges will judge all eligible entries and choose ten (10) semifinalists based on  dance ability (45%), originality (20%),  and style (35%). Sponsors and Producer reserve the right to select fewer than ten (10) semi-finalists if, in their sole discretion, they do not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified entries. Videos of the semifinalists will then be posted at www.hairpsraythemusical.com/dance from October 18, 2006 to November 15, 2006 at 11:59 p.m., E.T., for Internet users to vote for their favorite video. One vote per valid e-mail address.  (B) Final Round: The three (3) semi-finalists who receive the highest number of votes will have their video posted at www.hairspraythemusical.com/dance or www.lhj.com/hairspraycontest from November 22, 2006 to December 15, 2006 at 11:59 p.m., E.T. for Internet users to vote for their favorite video. One vote per valid e-mail address. The Finalist with the highest number of votes will be the grand prize winner. In the event of a tie at any level, the winning entry will be the entry among the tied entries with the higher/highest score in the criterion of dance ability, as determined by the judges. Potential grand prize winner will be notified by phone and/or mail on or about December 20, 2006. Decisions of judges are final and binding in all respects.

PRIZING:  Producer will provide grand prize winner with a trip prize package to New York City which includes: round trip coach-class air transportation for two (2) from major gateway nearest winner’s residence, approximate retail value (“ARV”) $1,000; 3 days/2 nights hotel accommodations (one room), ARV $500; two (2) tickets to the musical “Hairspray”, ARV $260; one (1) dance lesson with a Broadway choreographer for winner and an appearance for winner in one performance of “Hairspray”; total ARV of trip prize package: $2,500. The dance number in which the winner shall dance in the show shall be chosen by Producer in its sole discretion. Winner will dance in one (1) musical number in the show. Producer shall provide the winner with round-trip economy class airfare for the winner and one (1) travel companion only on a major airline chosen by Producer in its sole discretion.  Offer valid only within the continental United States.  The winner shall travel from the closest airport to the winner’s home.  Flights and accommodations are subject to availability.  Black out dates may apply.  The winner shall be responsible for any and all other expenses, including, without limitation, transportation to and from the airport, meals, tips, taxi fares, and car rental, associated with the receipt and acceptance of the prize. The prize must be accepted no later than 12/27/06. No performer in the show, including but not limited to Haylie Duff and Diana DeGarmo, shall be required to meet the winner or to be present at any time. Winner must be available to travel anytime in the month of January 2007 and prize package must be redeemed on a Friday to Sunday.  If winner is unable to travel on dates indicated, prize will be forfeited and the entry with the next highest score will become the alternate winner. Producer reserves the right to substitute a prize (or portions thereof) of equal or greater value if prize (or portions thereof) cannot be awarded as described. Producer will determine all elements of prize in its sole discretion. Prize may not be assigned, transferred, changed or redeemed for cash, except at the sole discretion of Producer. Prize is awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee express or implied. Producer and Sponsors disclaim all and any liability for the actual provision, quality or nature of any third party product or service accepted by the winner. The awarding of any prize is contingent upon full compliance with these Official Rules. Entrants agree to be bound by Official Rules and agree that if winner fails to provide proof of identity, refuses to provide required affidavit, is found to have violated the Official Rules or otherwise does not meet eligibility criteria, prize will be forfeited and awarded to the entry with the next highest score. Entrants understand that Producer and Sponsors are not liable for injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising from participation in this promotion and acceptance, possession and use of prize. Producer and Sponsors are not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the contest or in the announcement of the prize. Decisions of Producer and Sponsors are final and binding in all respects.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION:  Except where prohibited, by participating Contest entrants agree that: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of participant(s) and Producer and Sponsors and their agents shall be governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the State of New York without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law of any jurisdiction. Entrant agrees that any action at law or in equity arising out of or relating to this Contest, or awarding of the prizes, shall be filed only in the state or federal courts located in the State of New York and entrant hereby consents and submits to the personal jurisdiction of such courts for the purposes of litigating any such action. Except where prohibited, by participating in this Contest, entrant agrees that: (a) any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, or awarding of the prizes, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and (b) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with participating in this Contest but in no event attorneys' fees; and (c) under no circumstances will any participant be permitted to obtain awards for and hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitations or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the above may not apply to you.

OTHER:  Producer and Sponsors are not responsible for comments and/or critiques made by “Hairspray’s Panel of Judges” which may or may not effect Internet voting.  Producer and Sponsors assume no responsibility for entries they are unable to process due to network, hardware or other technical failures; or any other reason, or incomplete, damaged, misdirected, or lost entries. Producer and Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the web site or otherwise in violation of the rules. Producer and Sponsors further reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel, terminate or modify this promotion if not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, technical corruption, non-authorized human intervention or force majeure. Producer and Sponsors do not warrant that the functions contained on the website will be uninterrupted or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the website shall be free of viruses or other harmful components. Under no circumstances shall Producer or Sponsors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages that result from the use of, or the inability to use, the website or any of the materials or functions on the website. GENERAL:  Except where prohibited by law: (i) entry constitutes permission to use semi-finalists entry, name, hometown, voice, likeness, videograph and any statements regarding this contest for editorial, public relations, promotional and advertising purposes on behalf of Producer and Sponsors without compensation; (ii) potential winner will be required to complete and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Ownership/Liability Release, Publicity Release and Copyright Assignment within ten (10) days of notification or the entry with the next highest score may become an alternate winner. If winner notification is returned as undeliverable, the entry with the next highest score may become an alternate winner. Travel Companion will be required to complete and return a Liability/Publicity Release thirty (30) days prior to travel. By participating and winning a prize, winner releases Producer and Sponsors, and their parents, affiliates, subsidiaries and agencies and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability with respect to the prize won and participation in the contest Subject to all U.
